Social skills groups are a major component of the therapeutic interventions at Sierra Foothills Academy. The groups are conducted once a week for 30 minutes in each classroom and are facilitated by a clinical social worker. The topic of each group varies; however, the focus is generally on helping students to manage their own behavior. The groups include:
- Class Discussions
- Small Group Work
- Individual Sessions with the Clinician (if needed)
Students are encouraged to share their own personal insights and ideas with others in the class. Activities and worksheets presented within the groups serve as a vehicle for getting thoughts collected and starting points for discussion.
